Assuming that Fornals adjusts to the league, he will probably take Noble’s place as playmaker. In the meantime, I’m guessing that both of them will play on and off.

Noble is sensible enough to know he is on the glidepath for retirement. He will be capable of doing a Zabaleta, staying in shape and being capable of a good performance from the team.

As long as the younger players put in a shift.

Difference is that Noble himself has been making comments about not starting every match, even when available.

More significant than the views of a load of apparently blind WHO pundits

Noble has been on the way out for about the last 3 seasons yet still seems to remain a fixture in the side regardless of who’s in charge.

I don't say Noble is finished, but he's on his way out.

Since we've got loads of players who don't have any enthusiasm for dropping back when we're on the defensive, one whose enthusiasm is longer matched by his ability to do so makes things worse.

Norwich were so toothless that no conclusions about player's performances relating to tougher matches can be drawn

Why is everyone so sure that win has made us safe? With Watford winning today, there is a chance that Bournemouth could beat Leicester tomorrow and it's more or less the same as it was, with us celebrating a superior (but negative) goal difference.

Fucking called it like a boss there.

Pearson will have his team pressing hard, so I'd give Watford a miss for Noble.

I do agree though, that he looks more comfortable further forward when being asked to chase less

Re: ⚽ Norwich v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT - A Ratched
I only saw the goal highlights, but it didn’t surprise me that Noble had a good game further forward with Rice and Soucek providing the cover; saying that, Soucek got into some dangerous positions too.

For all the comments that Noble’s legs have gone, he never had any legs, if it’s meant his speed is gone. He can’t start every game in the next season and be expected to put in 90 minutes every time, but I would start him in this midfield trio for at least the Watford and Villa games, and certain matches next season, though that needs Rice to stay, of course.

Noble was always better further forward. Was Allardyce who started playing him as DM.

Noble was great yesterday but that doesn't mean he should be a starter again! Norwich are absolutely shocking side and have lost every hope of surival weeks ago. Noble struggled against every team with a proper midfield this season and it will be the case again on friday.

Seem to remember Ted playing a similar role with similar levels of pace a few years back!

Re: ⚽ Norwich v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT - A Ratched
Allowing Rice and Soucek to carry on as a CM pairing, freed Noble to play further forward, so we passed the ball better yesterday

He produced several quality through balls, that no one else in the squad seems capable of doing

It's funny to see people wet themselves that Noble might be playing upfield, supporting Antonio, as if it's a laughable idea. It's actually everything that you'd want — a bloke with an eye for a defence splitting pass, supporting a forward with devastating pace.

Superb performance yesterday which brings us to the brink of safety
I always thought Antonio would be an absolute star if he concentrated on his shooting instead of taking a wild swing at the ball every time a chance arose, and yesterday he proved he could
What a superb performance He's tried so hard for us this season and needs his contract extended
Noble was spraying the ball around like Pirlo. He had a great game and proved, yet again he was worth his place
Norwich were far easier than I was expecting and gave our lads far too much time and space on the ball, which made us look good
Even on the far too numerous occasions when we lost the ball it always looked like we would regain possession fairly comfortably
It's still glaringly obvious that both Fredericks and Cresswell need replacing asap even though they weren't put under any real pressure the whole match
Did this lot really beat Man City or did I dream it?

Re: ⚽ Norwich v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT - A Ratched
As Fraser says - Noble has the experience and vision for a pass now.

What he does lack is pace as is shown against any team who counter attacks or are able to chase and are fitter.

The game perfectly suited him and I think there will be games next year where he can be used like this, possibly as a sub to slow the game down. we are crying out for a box to box leggy midfielder with others doing the hard yards around him.

Re: ⚽ Norwich v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT - A Ratched
I thought Norwich would give it a go with the pressure off, but they waved the white flag pretty much from the off. It was as if Moyes was managing them for a cup game.

I like Noble always have, he's always had that ability.

Yesterday suited him ax they just let us play didn't press at all.

Unfortunately though his legs have gone and shouldn't be starting for us.

That wouldn't be the Mark Noble that so many posters thought was finished at this level was it?

Where is Ratched these days? Has she got Covid and disappeared ?

Because 99% of players couldn't give a toss about kneeling down.
If they played for liverpool not to long a go they would have worn some different
t.shirts on warming up.
They do it because they have been told to do it.

Re: ⚽ Norwich v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT - A Ratched
Did anyone else notice that the same player who took the free kick that Antonio headed in for the second goal, also played the through ball for Antonio's third goal, and released Fredericks who crossed for Antonio's fourth?
